About the Artist - Kasey Shrewsbury

I didn’t quit my job to start making rugs, but it sure seems to have worked out that way. After thirteen years of slingin’ microchips and playing the Corporate game, it was time to call it quits and see what else life had to offer. On a whim I borrowed a friend’s tufting gun, and within a week I was hooked.

I live in the country in Michigan with my Artist husband, two cats (Jasper and Luna), and our dog Tillie. My inspiration (rugs-piration?) comes from the world around me. Folk art…tattooing….ceramics….African art….textiles….the list goes on. As our life is a continuous collaboration, my husband’s work often finds its way into my own. I have found that nearly anything can become a rug, but my work lends itself to two-dimensional flat imagery.

Mostly, my goal in making these rugs is to explore Play - an element of life I have often neglected. I find joy in putting these out into the world, and I hope you find joy in them as well.
